JDS-Congress government of Karnataka was the target of Pegasus spyware in 2019!

In the case of hacking by the Israeli spyware Pegasus, now the names of celebrities associated with the Janata Dal Secular-Congress government in Karnataka have also come to the fore. The Pegasus issue has now caught on. The matter has become serious since the names of Indian political figures have also been associated in this matter. The Wire has reported in a disclosure that phone numbers belonging to the Janata Dal-Secular-Congress government in Karnataka were potential targets for surveillance in 2019. The Wire mentioned this in the latest revelations related to the Israeli spyware “Pegasus”.
The Wire report links the fall of the JDS-Congress government in July 2019 and the takeover of the BJP to alleged espionage. That is, when the JDS-Congress government had lost its place and the BJP had established its hold. During that time it was hacked.

The phone numbers of Deputy Chief Minister G Parameshwara and personal secretaries of Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy and former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah were reportedly chosen as potential targets. The Wire says these numbers were seen in a review of records of numbers that were of interest to an Indian customer of Israel’s NSO Group, which only sells its Pegasus spyware to governments.

Congress leader G Parameshwara said, “I was surprised to learn that Pegasus had carried out espionage activity on my phone when I was the Deputy Chief Minister, and Siddaramaiah and Secretary to the Chief Minister. The espionage activity by Pegasus is highly condemnable. The Ministry of Home Affairs or the Prime Minister’s Office cannot do this without the permission of the Government of India. I am sure the government is involved in this. I condemn it. They have misused their power to topple the governments in this country.”

The numbers are part of a leaked database accessed by French media non-profit Forbidden Stories and shared with an international media consortium called the Pegasus Project.
Let us tell you that Pegasus is made by an Israeli cyber security company NSO Group. It is also known by other names and one of them is ‘Q Cyber ‚Äč‚ÄčTechnology’. This company was established in the year 2009. The common man cannot install Pegasus on his phone or other device.

The company says that it sells it only to the authorized government of a country. The company says that through this it helps the governments of the country to stop terrorism and crime. The company also states that it does not operate it itself. Only those to whom this software is sold can use it and all spyware data is also stored with the same authorized organization or government.
