TRAI has released the telecom subscriber data for the month of February, according to which Reliance Jio of India’s richest man Mukesh Ambani added 42 lakh new subscribers in the month of February. With so many subscribers, Jio beat both Airtel and Vi that month. Airtel added 37 lakh new subscribers in the month of February. On the other hand, Vodafone Idea, now Vi, added 6.5 lakh new users. Explain that this figure may not be disappointing for Vi, because this figure is the highest for the company in the last several months.
TRAI says that the month of February has been good for all telecom companies, as all three companies have raised a lot of new subscribers in that month. Telecom regulator data shows that by February, Airtel had a total of 348.3 million, or 348.8 million users. At the same time, if Vi is added in the month of February, the company now has a total of 28.26 million subscribers.
According to the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India, Jio added 19 lakh new subscribers in the month of January and in the same month Airtel added 58 lakh subscribers to its account since February. Certainly January was a good month for Airtel. However, all the companies together have shown a growth of 0.72 percent in the total wireless subscribers. As of February, the total wireless subscribers in the country stood at 1,167.71 million, or 1.16 billion. In urban areas, this number increased to 639.24 million (633.27 million in January) by the end of February 2021. At the same time, rural areas increased from 526.15 million in January to 528.47 million in February.
