Jio left behind Airtel and Vodafone Idea to buy power of money, buy Rs 57 thousand crore spectrum

The auction of 4G spectrum was started by the Government of India on Monday, 1 March, which lasted till Tuesday. The reserve price of the auction was around four lakh crores. Telecom Secretary Anshu Prakash told that 855.60 MHz of spectrum worth Rs 77,814.80 crore was purchased in this auction which lasted for two days. The bids during this period were for the 800Mhz, 900Mhz, 1800Mhz, 2100Mhz and 2300Mhz bands. The special thing is that during this auction there was no bid for the 700Mhz and 2500Mhz bands.

The 700Mhz band accounted for one-third of the total spectrum offered for auction. Explain that no one had bought this spectrum in the 2016 auction. The NBT report says that experts believe that the megahertz band is cheaper than the GHz band and does not require new equipment, so most telecom operators do not want to invest in new spectrum.

In the 2021 spectrum auction, Jio acquired spectrum worth Rs 57,122.65 crore. On the other hand, the statement issued by Bharti Airtel stated that the company acquired Radiowave for Rs 18,699 crore in this auction. Vi (Vodafone Idea) spent Rs 1,993 crore in the auction. Airtel has achieved 355.45Mhz, Mid band and 2300Mhz band. Now Airtel has the strongest spectrum. The company has also claimed that with this spectrum they can provide 5G connectivity in future.

The company has also said that due to the availability of spectrum in Gigahertz subsurface, now its services will be better in cities and coverage will also increase. At the 700Mhz auction, Airtel said that he did not bid for this band because the band is not useful for him financially. The reserve price of this band was also kept very high.
