Kids play less game, Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI) started campaign

Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI) developer Crafton is highlighting parental controls in its latest “Gaming Responsibly” campaign. This includes virtual world warning messages, OTP authentication for all players under the age of 18, break reminders for better game-life balance, gameplay limits and players’ daily spending limits to prevent overspending. BGMI says it has also sensitized the in-game graphics to develop a healthy and responsible gaming culture. Reduced violence, bloodshed and set language-control parameters.

To encourage gamers to pledge themselves and their teammates’ mental health, Crafton will also release a series. A video has already been released on YouTube, which highlights the parental controls in BGMI. Under the Game Responsibly Drive, BGMI wants to introduce age-related restrictions such as OTP, so that parents can get consent to play BGMI. Crafton also wants to show its move against game addiction. For this, measures like capping the time of play, limiting expenses have been introduced.

Just before the game starts, BGMI displays a warning that players are aware of the virtual world they are entering. An audio also keeps on telling the players during gaming that they are in the virtual world and not in the real world. Players under the age of 18 are required to register a parent or guardian before they can play for the first time.

BGMI also claims that it gives players break time reminders to maintain game-life balance. Also, players below the age of 18 are not allowed to play games for more than three hours a day. The in-game daily spend limit is set at 7000 for minors, which automatically prevents them from overspending and over-gaming.
