ICICI Bank launched the banking service on WhatsApp in the month of April and by the month of July about 10 lakh people had joined this facility. Using this, ICICI customers have some basic banking facilities, such as checking their account balance. Watching your last three transactions, knowing the location of branches and ATMs, getting information related to loans, etc.
Apart from offering banking facility, ICICI Bank is also one of the banks whose WhatsApp payment has been enabled under the partnership. The service has been given a green signal by the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) only last month and has now been made live for 2 crore users.
Like ICICI Bank, Axis Bank and HDFC Bank are other partner banks whose payment feature has been brought on WhatsApp in partnership.
Let me tell you, there are currently more than 400 million users on WhatsApp in India. However, the payment feature is limited to a barely 5 percent user base. The list of partner banks in WhatsApp payments includes State Bank of India and Jio Payments Bank as well as ICICI Bank, HDFC Bank and Axis Bank.
