Motorola Defy series may be re-launched with Snapdragon 662 processor: Report

Motorola Defy smartphone is reportedly set to be relaunched soon. This smartphone was earlier seen listed on Google Play Console and Geekbench listing with the codename Motorola Athena. However, according to the latest report, the Motorola Athena phone will launch as the Motorola Defy series. Motorola company is about to relaunch the Defy series after a decade. The company introduced Defy XT and Defy Mini smartphones in the year 2012. Both the smartphones were water-resistance, scratch resistance and dust proof. It is being speculated that such features can be given in the upcoming Defy series as well.

According to Agarwal, Motorola company can launch more than one smartphone outside India under the Defy series, but where they will be introduced, this information has not been given at the moment.

Motorola Defy was earlier spotted on Google Play Console and Geekbench. It was reported through Geekbench that this phone will come with Android 10. At the same time, it will get an octa-core chipset and 4 GB RAM. Its codename was ‘bathena’ in the listing. The upcoming smartphone’s Geekbench score was quite good, its single-core score was 1,527 and multi-core score was 5,727 points.

The Google Play console listing showed that the upcoming phone is codenamed Athena and will be powered by the Snapdragon 662 processor, coupled with Adreno 610 GPU and 4GB of RAM. Apart from this, this phone can be equipped with an HD + display with a resolution of 720×1,600 pixels and it can knock with Android 10. The image in the Google Play console listing indicates that the smartphone will come with a waterdrop-style notch display.

In the year 2012, Motorola launched Defy XT and Defy Mini smartphones. Both the smartphones were water-resistance, scratch resistance and dust proof. The Defy XT featured a 3.7-inch display, a 5-megapixel rear camera, and a VGA selfie camera. On the other hand, the Defy Mini had a 3.2-inch display and a 600MHz processor. It had a 3 megapixel rear camera for photography and a VGA camera for selfie. Both these phones had Android 2.3, 1,650mAh battery and MotoSwitch UI.
