The company has confirmed through the Chinese micro-blogging website Weibo that the Motorola Edge S smartphone will be launched on January 26. The launch event will be livestreamed at 7.30 pm local time (5 pm Indian time). However, the design of the smartphone has not been revealed in the poster shared by the company at the launch event.
Motorola has confirmed that the Motorola Edge S smartphone will be equipped with Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 processor, which will be Motorola’s first smartphone to be equipped with the new Snapdragon 800 series chipset. At present, no clarity has been issued as to whether this phone will be launched outside China or not.
Let me tell you, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 processor has been introduced a few hours ago, which is an upgrade version of the Snapdragon 865 processor launched last year. However, this is the tone-down version of the flagship processor Snapdragon 888. This processor is built on 7nm processor architecture with a maximum clock speed of 3.2GHz. Snapdragon 870 processor has support for Adreno 650 GPU, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth V5.2 and USB Type-C Gen 3.1. It is also given Spectra 480 ISP for imaging. Apart from Motorola, OnePlus, Oppo, Xiaomi and iQoo companies can also launch phones equipped with Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 processors.
The design of the Motorola Edge S is currently under wraps and its major specifications are also not yet made public. But the specification of this phone with Neo codename has been revealed in the old leaks. For example, there will be a quad rear camera setup on the back panel of the smartphone, whose primary camera will be 64 megapixels. For the selfie, it will have a dual camera hole-punch cutout.
