Soon after the government imposed the ban on Wednesday last week, PUBG Mobile’s publisher Tencent Games said that the company was talking to Indian authorities to ensure continued availability of its app in India. PUBG Corporation, the developer of the Battle Royale game, is now taking over the franchise from Tencent Games in the country.
PUBG Corporation is a subsidiary of South Korean video game company Krafton Game Union. It is already the developer and publisher of PUBG, designed for PC and Console. However, PUBG Mobile and PUBG Mobile Lite were created under a partnership between PUBG Corporation and Tencent Games.
In addition to getting the PUBG mobile franchise from Tencent Games in India, PUBG Corporation is exploring ways to engage with the gaming community through eSports and community events in various regions of India.
However, at the moment the government has not given clarity on whether this new move of the company will bring any relief to the existing gamers, streamers and community dependent on PUBG Mobile in the country.
