Qualcomm to develop chips for BMW’s self-driving cars

The company announced this in its Investors Day conference. “Our announcement today with BMW marks the beginning of a new era in automotive, where two technology leaders will design and develop a core element of the Snapdragon digital chassis for next-generation automobiles,” said Cristiano Amon, President and CEO of Qualcomm. have come together. It was told by BMW that the new chips will be used for the new series of cars, which will be in production from 2025.

As part of this partnership with BMW, Qualcomm will develop driver assistance technologies and products on its Snapdragon ride platform. The company has said that BMW’s next-generation automated driving stack will be based on the Snapdragon Ride Vision System-on-Chip (SoC), which will be managed by the Qualcomm Cars-2-cloud services platform.

A dedicated Qualcomm computer vision processing chip will be used in the vehicles to analyze data from the front, rear and surround-view cameras. BMW will also use central computing chips and Qualcomm chips for cars to communicate with cloud computing data centers.
