These smartphones of OnePlus will get updates only by the year 2023

OnePlus 8, OnePlus 8 Pro and OnePlus Nord smartphones will cease to receive security updates after the middle of 2023, OnePlus itself has revealed through the security update page of its website. All three phones were launched earlier this year, which were promised to be released with security updates on a regular quarter. OnePlus updated its lineup with OnePlus 8T in October. However, the official announcement to end the support schedule for the new flagship is yet to be made. It is necessary to clarify here that security updates are often issued separately, which is not part of the operating system update.

The information available on the Security Update page was first made public by PiunikaWeb. According to the page, OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro smartphones will receive regular quarterly security updates by April 2023 while OnePlus Nord will receive these security updates by July 2023. The OnePlus 8 series was launched in April this year, while the OnePlus Nord was launched in July itself.

No information related to OnePlus smartphones like OnePlus 7T and OnePlus 7 has been provided on the security page. Apart from this, the company has not given any clarity about the OnePlus 8T, if we look at the launch date scenario of OnePlus 8 Series and OnePlus Nord, then this phone is also eligible to receive regular security updates till at least October 2023.

Importantly, OnePlus has given this information in relation to the OnePlus 8, OnePlus 8 Pro and OnePlus Nord’s regular security patches, which do not provide any details regarding operating system updates. However, the company can maintain the format of updating the Android version up to two years after the launch date in its smartphone.

The OnePlus 8 series has received Android 11 update in its first version update itself, although it is still coming to OnePlus Nord.

In addition to OnePlus 8, OnePlus 8 Pro, OnePlus 8T and OnePlus Nord, OnePlus has also launched OnePlus Nord N100 and Nord N10 5G smartphones in the year 2020. However, both these phones will receive an Android version update and security updates for up to two years.

The Security Update page states that the given schedule is for Assembly of European Regions (AER) users. However, major changes are unlikely to occur for global customers.
