To charge an electric vehicle, you will have to pay different prices in the morning, day and evening.

For electric vehicle charging, the government has introduced a new tariff model of charging station. The new model is not uniform, but is divided over time. If you too are planning to buy a new electric two-wheeler or a new electric car, then this news is for you. The Ministry of Power has released a new draft for the tariff model of charging stations. In the new model, you will have to pay different prices for charging in the morning, afternoon and evening. According to this, the highest price will be in the evening time.

On Monday, the Ministry of Power released some new provisions related to the new tariff model for charging stations through a press draft for all states and the SERC (State Electricity Regulatory Commission). According to the new draft, the tariff charged at the charging station will not be uniform throughout the day, but will be divided according to time.

The Moneycontrol report states that the charging tariff will be entirely dependent on demand and supply. The peak electricity rates will be maintained at peak times and peak hover is considered to be mostly in the evening hours. It may happen that the tariff is reduced in the morning or during the day. If this happens, you will find it cheapest to charge your car during this time.

The report says that the rates will vary for public and private charging stations. The regulator will decide the rates according to demand and supply. Apart from this, aggregators will also be able to buy renewable energy from the open market. However, this will not be applicable from now on. The report says that the ministry has now sought the opinion of all stakeholders on this proposal.
