Currently, two Maruti Suzuki vehicles are running on the roads in India with Toyota badges and a few facelifts, one being the Glanza and the other being the Urban Cruiser. Now it seems that Toyota is also planning to launch the upcoming EV model of the much-loved Wagon-R in India with a changed name and a slightly redesigned look. The Maruti Suzuki Wagon-R EV has been spotted several times in the past during road testing and this time around, Toyota’s electric car that looks almost like a Wagon-R has been spotted on the road.

Toyota’s upcoming electric car has been spotted testing on the roads by automobile website Gaadiwale. Images shared by the website show the exterior design of the car as well as its underside. Visually, the car looks to be based on the Wagon-R EV, the upcoming electric car from Maruti Suzuki. The structure of both looks similar, but the differences are felt due to changes in the headlight and some cosmetic design. What will be the name of this car of Toyota is not known at the moment, but it is known to be an electric car from its lower part. The lower part of the car is similar to that of the Wargon-R non-electric car, but it does not have an exhaust. The alloy wheels present in the car are similar to those of the Maruti Suzuki Ignis.

As we mentioned, Maruti Suzuki and Toyota Kirloskar Motor have a partnership in India, under which the company has already launched two Maruti cars with their badges in the market. The company introduced the Baleno as the Glanza, which came with a completely similar design. At the same time, the company also launched the Brezza as the Urban Cruizer, but also made minor changes in the design.

At present, not much information is available about the Wagon-R EV and this new Toyota EV, but the continuous road testing is an indication that both the companies will not delay in bringing them to the market. At the moment, no concrete news has been leaked about the price too, but since it is an electric version of the ‘affordable’ car, its price could be less than Rs 10 lakh.
