The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has given answers to the questions asked after the rebuke by a special committee of Parliament. According to an ET report, the auction of 5G spectrum in India may take longer, but radio waves are to be auctioned in the country from 1 March. The department blamed the lack of necessary 5G ecosystem in the country for the delay in 5G trials in India. However, the department further added that there are no major hurdles in 5G trials, due to which it is believed that 5G trials could start within the next two to three months.
Explain that India’s telecom giants Reliance Jio and Airtel have claimed to launch 5G service in the second quarter of the year. Airtel also recently gave a live demo of 5G in Hyderabad. The special thing here was that the company has simultaneously operated 5G and 4G on the existing spectrum with 1800MHz band through non-standalone (NSA) network technology. Airtel has claimed that they have the ability to run a 5G network in mid-band on the existing spectrum. The company says that it can offer 5G networks at the 1800MHz, 2100MHz and 2300MHz frequencies as well as the sub-GHz bands available at 800MHz and 900MHz.
Come back to the latest DoT report. Let me tell you that with the talk of starting the 5G trial soon, the Department of Telecommunications also says that it is also planning to build a 5G use case lab. For this, he is talking to different ministries like education, health, agriculture, public safety and fintech (banking).
