Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4 may get new names. According to a tipster, the South Korean company may launch upcoming smartphones without the letter “Z” in their surnames and may be called Samsung Galaxy Fold 4 and Galaxy Flip 4. This may not be shocking as Samsung has done this in the past. The letter “Z” was dropped from the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3 in the Baltic countries, reportedly due to the letter’s association with the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
according to a Tweet By tipster SnoopyTech, starting with the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4, the company will not include the letter “Z” on the box. The tipster says this is because the Russian military is using the letter. Nothing has been said about this from Samsung. In fact, the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4 names are not yet official.
However, it appears credible as the South Korean company removed the letter from the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip smartphones in three Baltic countries: Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia. There was no official statement on this, but it was guessed This was done because Samsung wanted to cut off any allies associated with Russia because of the country’s invasion of Ukraine. The images show Russian tanks in Ukraine marked with the letter “Z”.
Samsung had earlier said that all foldable phones would come under the Z series as it conveys the message of a foldable phone. “With the Z Series, we are adopting a new naming convention for our foldable portfolio that reflects our commitment to expand the category to offer a wide variety of experiences. We chose ‘Z’ for this series as it seamlessly communicates the idea of Fold while providing a dynamic, youthful feel.” told Bloomberg in February 2020.
Both the foldable phones are likely to be launched at the Galaxy Unpacked event on August 10. The Galaxy Watch 5 series and Galaxy Buds 2 Pro are also expected to debut alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4 smartphones.
