WhatsApp ‘Delete for Everyone’ feature may get an extension of more than 2 days; community details surface

WhatsApp is reportedly working on increasing the time limit for the ‘Delete for Everyone’ feature from the current one hour, eight minutes and 16 seconds to two days and 12 hours. This extension will help users to delete their wrongly sent messages within a longer time frame. Separately, the WhatsApp community feature has been explained in detail via screenshots. This feature will allow group admins to add and manage their multiple WhatsApp groups from a single place. This will let administrators send important announcements to all members at once.

according to a report good By WhatsApp beta tracker WABetaInfo, WhatsApp for Android beta version 2.22.410 has made references to suggest extending the ‘delete for everyone’ time limit to two days and 12 hours. In other words, it means users will get two and a half days to permanently delete a message.

Once deleted using the feature, the message will be replaced with a notification that read, “This message was deleted.”

This notably isn’t the first time WhatsApp is reported to have expanded the ‘Delete for Everyone’ feature in the works. In November last year, the instant messaging app was reportedly planning to extend its deadline by more than seven days.

WABetaInfo reports that an extension of more than seven days seems inappropriate because most people would not want to delete the message they sent a week ago. However, at the moment it is not clear whether WhatsApp will make the new deadline final or make some changes while making it public.

WhatsApp introduced the current one-hour time limit in 2018. The feature to delete messages for everyone in the chat originally had a time limit of seven minutes.

The update is not yet visible to beta testers either. Similarly, the exact time frame of when it will arrive is not yet available.

In addition to the deadline extension, WABetaInfo has spotty An introduction screen for WhatsApp communities in WhatsApp for Android beta version The screen will essentially inform users how the new offering will work.

As seen from a screenshot of the intro screen shared by WABetaInfo, the WhatsApp community will allow group administrators to add the groups they manage in one place for quick access. The Community section will help group admins to send new announcements to all their group members at once.

WhatsApp has not yet provided any details on when exactly the communities will be available to end users. The beta version in question also doesn’t make any public references about the update.

WABetaInfo has also tweeted some pictures, which are purported to show how message reactions will be available for WhatsApp users on Android and iPhone in the future. The responses are said to be secured by end-to-end encryption – just like the messages being shared on the app.

Details about when we might see reactions in a public release of WhatsApp are yet to be revealed. However, if we look at some recent reports, this feature is in testing.
