Assassin’s Creed Mirage Trailer Revealed at Ubisoft Forward, Launching 2023

The Assassin’s Creed Mirage Trailer is here. At the Ubisoft Forward event on Saturday – early Sunday in India – the publisher unveiled the first trailer for the latest entry in the franchise set in Baghdad. Previous reports suggested that the title was titled “Rift” and was originally intended as an expansion to 2020’s Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. Assassin’s Creed Mirage reveal trailer comes a week after Ubisoft unveiled a teaser photo for the game, confirming its existence. Assassin’s Creed Mirage launches in 2023 on all major platforms.

Ubisoft released a cinematic trailer for Assassin’s Creed Mirage, featuring our main character Basim Ibn Ishaq in the Assassin Clan. The ceremony is hosted by Master Roshan, who is known for playing Emmy-winning actress Shohre Aghadashlu’s raucous voice, The Expanse and HBO’s House of Saddam. With this entry, Ubisoft is going back to the roots of the series, with a tightly-bound narrative experience that focuses on stealth, parkour, and assassinations – as previously reported. Set 20 years before the events of Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla, Mirage follows a younger Bassim as he turns his life from pickpocketing the locals in Baghdad to become a skilled assassin.

“Are you ready to leave your life behind and follow the path of the shadow?” asks Roshan, as we cut footage of a young Basim, who is being chased by the townspeople on a robbery case. Despite being fairly adept at parkour, he becomes trapped at one point, only to be saved by a mysterious hooded killer – the aforementioned Roshan. Basim is on his way to join a new family to correct his mistakes and hone his skills and eliminate targets that threaten to overthrow the peace of Baghdad. The Assassin’s Creed Mirage trailer also includes some brief battle footage, relying on both curved daggers and hidden blades.

The Assassin’s Creed Mirage trailer then showcases some action sequences as the now sophisticated Bassim targets a group of officers. Red smoke bombs are now part of his inventory, along with the drone bird ability that lets you survey the surroundings. There’s also a monster at the end of the trailer, similar to the Draugrs from God of War (2018), indicating that Ubisoft is still including mythical beasts in its Assassin’s Creed games.

According to Ubisoft, pre-orders for Assassin’s Creed Mirage have now begun, offering an exclusive “The Forty Thieves” side quest. Earlier this month, leaks revealed the cover image for said DLC, which is apparently a reference to the Arab folktale, “Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves.” The leaked image also shows a giant door, which can possibly be unlocked by speaking the “Open Sesame” password.

Assassin’s Creed Mirage 2023 releases on PC, PS4, PS5, Amazon Luna, Xbox One and Xbox Series S/X.
