Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0 is coming to PC and consoles on November 16. During Call of Duty: Next event on Thursday, Activision revealed the latest chapter, or expansion, for its free-to-play battle royale title Warzone. Billed as a “completely revamped experience”, Warzone 2.0 includes a massive new map, a new Gulag mode, and other improvements. In addition, the publisher confirmed the Warzone mobile game, leaving 120 players on the arena, battles for survival — launching sometime in 2023.

Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0

Like the previous entry, Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0 will be free-to-play, with soldiers joining the “largest” battle royale map ever. Al Majra is a meticulously designed amphitheater, built from the ground up, that features coastal towns, deserts, rocky peaks, and entire cities to explore. Players may recognize this map from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Remake – launching on October 28 – playing a key role in the game’s campaign mode. Set in Western Asia, the map introduces warfare on land, air and sea, introducing new challenges and scouting opportunities as you move around enemies via motorboat or helicopter. According to Activision, the vehicles can also be customized with skins.

Over time, a gushing storm gradually engulfs the map of Al Majra. But unlike the original warzone, the vapor wall would be precarious due to bad weather conditions, resulting in many smaller safe zones/circles. This will force players to come out of their hiding places and think of a new strategy. Shops are also returning to the game, allowing players to bring back a dead squadmate, buy equipment, and load up on upgrades for their firearms.

The Gulag is also changing as Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0 introduces 2v2 match-ups, before being revived and returned to the game. Alternatively, players can hunt down the AI jailers, who hold the keys to the prison cell, and escape free from battle. Any items or gear you loot from prison are carried over to the main game upon revival.

Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0 launches on November 16 for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series S/X, Xbox One and PC via Steam and Battle.net.

Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile

Like its mainline counterpart, Warzone Mobile will let up to 120 online players drop onto the map each play session. Activision notes there will be some ties between the two new versions of Warzone, such as social features (friends and chat) and cross-progression, enabling a shared Battle Pass system. In addition, the title is expected to host mobile-specific events, playlists, and content with “deep customization options.” For the new Al Majra map, the blog post Note that this will not be available at launch.

Pre-registration for Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile is now live on Android, ahead of its anticipated worldwide launch on Android and iOS devices in 2023.
