Elon Musk reportedly linked whistleblower payments as new reason to end  billion Twitter deal

Elon Musk has found another reason to end his $44 billion (about Rs 3,50,000 crore) acquisition deal with Twitter. A latest report reveals that the billionaire sent a new termination letter to the social media company, adding an alleged payment made by Twitter to a whistleblower to the list of reasons for exiting the deal. Musk reportedly accused the company of not knowing the details of the payment, which is said to be multimillion-dollar compensation. According to the report, Twitter has dismissed the claims.

According to AFP, SpaceX and Tesla chief Elon Musk recently wrote a termination letter to Twitter. The billionaire has linked the alleged severance payment made by the firm to whistleblower Peter Zatko as a new reason for ending a proposed $44 billion deal in April to buy the social media platform.

A few days ago, Musk’s lawyer allegedly charged Twitter whistleblower Peter Zatko, Twitter’s former security chief, $7 million (about Rs 56 crore) for not disclosing details about operational problems within the microblogging firm. alleged to have paid. Musk’s lawyer Alex Spiro made the claim during a hearing on Tuesday.

Musk’s lawyers have argued that Twitter’s failure to get the SpaceX chief’s consent before paying Zatco creates another legal basis for scrapping the merger deal, reports AFP.

Meanwhile, Twitter has dismissed all claims Musk has made against the firm so far. The report quoted Twitter attorney William Savitt as saying, “My friends are arguing that Twitter should have inexplicably told Musk that there was a disgruntled former employee who made several allegations, which were questioned. and was found without qualification.”

Kathleen McCormick, the Delaware Court Chancellor overseeing the Musk-Twitter case, has allowed Musk to add whistleblowing disclosures from Zatko to her termination letter, according to AFP.
