Jio 5G solution announced, testing will start in India as soon as spectrum becomes available

Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani on Wednesday announced that Jio is developing a homegrown 5G solution. Ambani said that the Jio 5G solution has been built in India from the very beginning. This will enable Jio to launch “world class 5G service in India”. Ambani said as soon as 5G spectrum becomes available, this 5G solution will be ready for testing and will be ready for field deployment next year. This development was announced during Reliance’s Virtual Annual General Meeting 2020, along with some other details such as the global esports of Jio 5G and the upgrade from 4G.

During Reliance AGM 2020 live streamMukesh Ambani revealed that Jio 5G was developed by engineers in India and is dedicated to PM Narendra Modi’s vision of “Atmanirbhar Bharat”. Ambani shared a roadmap for Jio 5G, stating that he will test the service in India as soon as 5G spectrum is available and ready for field deployment. The company also plans to export Jio 5G solutions to other telecom operators globally as a fully managed service.

The Reliance Industries chairman also shared that it would be easy to upgrade Jio’s 4G network to 5G, thanks to the all-IP network architecture.

“Using these technologies, we can create compelling solutions across multiple industry sectors such as media, financial services, new commerce, education, healthcare, agriculture, smart cities, smart manufacturing and smart mobility,” Ambani said.

As a part of the AGM, RIL also introduced some new technologies which include Jio Glass which provides mixed reality services, and Jio TV+ which aggregates content from over 12 streaming services.

Additionally, Reliance Industries has also contributed Rs. 33,737 crore investment in Jio Platforms from Google.
