Telecom Minister Ashwini Vaishnav assures more reforms in the sector: Report

Telecom Minister Ashwini Vaishnav has reportedly assured further reforms to the telecom sector, saying the industry should also play its part and significantly improve the quality of service. The Minister exhorted the telecom operators and infrastructure providers to move swiftly to work towards improving quality services in the country. Vaishnav further elaborated that the initiative cannot be one-sided and the equations have to be reciprocal. The minister also mentioned that the 5G journey in India will be exciting.

According to a recent PTI report, Telecom Minister Vaishnav has assured more reforms in the telecom sector. He also said that the telecom industry should do its bit to significantly improve the quality of service provided by them.

The minister asked telecom operators and infrastructure providers to “move fully” to improve quality services in India. He also reminded that the initiative cannot be one sided and the equations have to be interchanged.

Additionally, Vaishnav also mentioned that the 5G journey in India will be exciting, given that the government has set a target of 80 percent coverage in India in a relatively short time frame.

Vaishnav said, “While it took many years for many countries to reach 40-50 per cent coverage, we are targeting a very aggressive timeline. We definitely need to cover at least 80 per cent in a very short time frame.” should.”
