Vodafone Idea is now ‘Vi’, new branding revealed as Vodafone Idea merger is fully integrated

Vodafone Idea has revealed its new unified brand identity – Vi (read as ‘V’) using the initials of both Vodafone and Idea. It is now shorter, simpler and a reference to both the brands. The development was shared during a virtual conference that was livestreamed, revealing the new brand that was designed for the digital age. Vodafone and Idea merged on August 31, 2018, two years after the merger, and the new Vi brand embarks on the final stages of integration. The new branding has been updated on the website and app, and will make its way to all products including SIM cards, bills, billboards and more.

Ravinder Takkar, MD & CEO, Vodafone Idea Ltd. said, “Vodafone Idea came together as a merged entity two years ago. Since then we have focused on integrating our people and processes into two large networks. And today I am delighted to introduce Vi, a brand that will bring significant meaning to the lives of our customers. Indians are optimistic and want to move ahead in life. They would love a reliable companion to help them on this journey. The positioning of Vi is built around this promise and will focus on meeting the needs of customers in order to help them thrive.

Takkar said V not only marks the completion of the largest telecom merger in the world, but also begins the journey of bringing a “world-class digital experience” to 1 billion Indians on 4G networks. Applying multiple principles of 5G architecture has helped the brand to become a “future-suited, digital network” for customers.
