Facebook, Instagram expected to roll out more recommended content by end of 2023: Mark Zuckerberg

Instagram and Facebook plan to start suggesting more recommended content on user feeds by the end of next year. Meta, the parent company of these two social media platforms, disclosed during its second-quarter earnings conference call it expects to push more content from accounts users don’t follow. According to Meta Platforms, formerly known as Facebook, a Facebook user’s feed currently shows them about 15 percent of recommended content with the help of the company’s artificial intelligence (AI). For Instagram, the company claims it to be even more.

This percentage is said to be slightly higher for Instagram. Talking about the content of the people and accounts users follow, Zuckerberg said, “Social content from people you know will continue to be an important part of the experience and some of our most different content, but increasingly we Will also be able to supplement with other interesting content from our network. Instagram has recently started receiving a lot of criticism for trying to be like TikTok. Social media platforms also recently announced that new video posts of less than 15 minutes will be shared in the form of reels.

Instagram head Adam Mosseri shared a video via Twitter to offer his reaction to the recent criticism. In the video, he acknowledged that the layout is “not good yet” and that the platform will have to work to “get it in a good place” before releasing it to all users.
