Steve Bannon faces New York state indictment, will turn himself in, sources say

Steve BannonOne of former President Donald Trump’s advisers faces indictment in New York on state charges and will turn himself in, two sources close to Bannon confirmed to CBS News late Tuesday.

The details of the allegations were not immediately clear. The New York District Attorney’s office declined to comment late Tuesday.

Bannon’s upcoming indictment was first reported by Washington PostWhich states that Bannon will turn himself in on Thursday.

“Inspired to murder me by police by the Biden administration, just days after I was swamped three separate times by neurotic thugs from New York City, the Soros-backed DA has now filed fake charges against me 60 days before the midterm election. Because Warroom is MAGA’s major source of grassroots agitation,” Bannon said in a statement.

Bannon was convicted After refusing to comply with a subpoena to appear before a House committee investigating allegations of contempt of Congress in July January 6 Attack on the US Capitol, He faces a maximum prison term of two years and his sentence is set for October 21.

Bannon said in a statement Tuesday night that the Southern District of New York did “the exact same thing to try to get me out of the election in August 2020.”
