Officials in the US capital said four people were in critical condition after lightning struck near the White House on Thursday.
Lightning struck a small park across the street from the White House, causing “severe life-threatening injuries” to two men and two women, according to a statement from Washington’s Department of Fire and Emergencies.
All the victims have been taken to local hospitals.
Images posted by the department on social media showed several ambulances and at least one fire truck working at the scene with flashing lights.
A strong thunderstorm hit the US capital on Thursday evening.
