In 2017, another al-Qaeda leader and a representative of Zawahiri, Abu Khair al-Masri, was reportedly killed by R9X Hellfire in Syria. Photographs of his vehicle taken after the strike showed that the missile had cut a hole in the roof and bitten the occupants, but without any explosions or signs of any further destruction of the vehicle.
