Hermit faces expulsion from beachside cave house

In Herzliya, Israel, people have started a petition to try to expel a modern-day hermit from his unusual habitat, which has been built into a cave on the coast.

Nissim spent months by the sea without a home, but then defied moisture, salt and waves to build a Gaudi-like structure that has been a local attraction for nearly 50 years.

But now the officials want him to leave saying that he built without permission and is harming the environment. Nisim insists that he will not give up his life’s work until he dies.
