Kanpur. WhatsApp Pay will soon be launched in India as the Facebook-owned company has acquired the license from National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI). According to the BGR report, WhatsApp Pay will help the company expand its payments service and reach more than 400 million users in the country. Let us tell you that this payment service will use the government's Unified Payment Interface (UPI) to enable mobile transactions. Facebook finally managed to get the approval as the company had been trying to launch WhatsApp Pay service in India since 2018.

WhatsApp Pay can become the country's biggest payment service

Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg said in a press conference, 'We got approval to test it with one million people in India in 2018. “And with so many people using it week after week, we knew it was going to be big once it launched.” Another media report states that WhatsApp Pay service will be first introduced to 10 million users in India. At the same time, a person related to this matter said that after its launch in the country, WhatsApp Pay can become the largest mobile payment service in the country. This service will help in promoting digital inclusion in the country.

Due to this reason the launch is getting delayed

It is known that due to data localization criteria, there is a delay in launching this service in the country. At the same time, the government had raised questions regarding the data security and privacy of this service. The government said that all the data of the users should be stored in India only. Due to this, this service has not been launched in India yet.
