New Delhi ,PTI,, The government is deeply troubled by the unnecessary uproar and disturbance in various parts of the country due to the flood of fake news on WhatsApp for the last few days. In this matter, due to pressure from the government, Facebook-owned WhatsApp is also continuously making many changes in its apps and programs to curb fake news, so that fake news can be prevented from spreading on its platform. WhatsApp may have failed till now to curb fake news on the messaging app, but now it seems that some tech experts from Delhi are going to be successful in curbing fake news.

Experts are making such apps, Which will quickly tell the truth of fake news
Ponnurangam Kumaraguru, Associate Professor, Department of Computer Science, Indraprastha Institute of IT, Delhi, and his team are creating an app that will detect the authenticity of news spreading on social media platforms. That is, this app will test the news and messages being spread on all social media platforms from WhatsApp and will tell whether it is real news or fake, so that those fake messages can be prevented from spreading further.

Will become an effective weapon to stop cases like mob lynching
In recent times, from Maharashtra to Karnataka, many people were beaten to death by mobs enraged by fake news about child lifters in different cases. Regarding this app which tells the truth of news, Prof. Kumaraguru says that in recent times, after seeing cases like spreading rumors through fake messages on WhatsApp, inciting mobs and instigating attacks, I want to say that this will definitely help in controlling such cases.

Raid is underway to identify fake news, yellow and green signals
Pro. According to Kumaraguru, to identify fake news on WhatsApp, we are collecting a lot of data in our app's database and are appealing to people to send messages to our WhatsApp number 9354325700 to identify fake news. We are developing a program to filter out fake news from suspicious messages and put them in a wrapper. So that those messages can be stopped from spreading further. For example, if we receive a message, the app checks its authenticity on the basis of its database. If that news is true, then a green color signal will appear on that message, a yellow signal means that the truth of that news could not be ascertained. Red signal would mean that the news is 100% fake.

The app will be ready for public use in two months
Prof. is developing this app. According to Kumaraguru, his app to identify fake news will match the picture, URL and words present in that message with its database. On the basis of this the truth of the news can be ascertained. According to him, this app which detects fake news will become usable by common people within 2 months.
